Participation in the workshop ICT & Industry gives companies the opportunity to:

Obtain creative solutions for challenging problems and/or to find new approaches, which could lead to such solutions;

  • Meet potential future employees (master students, PhD students, postdocs, professors).

 

Commitment

· The above benefits are available at only a fraction of the actual costs as the company is requested to contribute an amount of just € 1.500,- (excl. BTW) to cover the organization costs.

· During the workshop the company will provide at least one supervisor to introduce the industrial problem and to represent the company during the working sessions. Hotel accommodation is not included in the above mentioned amount.

· Working facilities will be provided for the supervisor at the venue and these are included in the organization costs..

 

Requirements

· The problems to be submitted range from fundamental questions to more applied problems in a wide variety of industries.

· The industrial partner suggests a case that reflects the real life situation and that can be solved with

the support of new methods or technologies.

· The proposed questions are formulated in such a way that researchers will be able to work these out during the workshop (5 days).

· The topics proposed may address the themes described in the Dutch ICT Roadmapincluding (serious) gaming that is one of the research themes of the Dutch Creative Industries focus area. The themes are: 1. ICT one can rely on, 2. ICT systems for monitoring and control, 3. ICT for a connected world and 4. Data, data, data.

· A scientific committee will assess the submitted problems on the scientific merit. Feedback will be provided to the involved company.

· The outcome of the workshop will be the publication of paper proceedings including oral presentations at a large ICT-conference, e.g. ICT.Open.

 

Practicalities

· The workshop will be organised from 13-17 October 2014 at the Lorentz Center in Leiden,

· The participating industrial partner joins the workshop by:

Submission of an ICT-problem to be solved

Financial contribution of € 1.500,-

Active participation of at least one representative during the workshop week
